Hi,
As title suggests I have been given a 1975 1275gt which has been striped to weld and paint. The lady that has possesion of the car can not find the number plates or logbook and can not remember what the registration was as its been off the road for some years now.Is there any way that I can find out the relevant information,I know that there is an engine with the car but it may not be the original. Also if the floor has been welded there may be a chance that the chasis numbers no longer exist(if this is where they are located). As yet I have not seen the car and will not be able to view it until the 16th but would rather get this out the way before commiting to take it.
Thanks.

i had one the same no log book or plates but it still had the chassis plate with the vin number fitted to the bonnet slam panel

which is where it is mounted on the car as standard on early cars ten went to inner wing ,then stamped into the scuttle panel on cars after 84ish, where never in the floor, which ment i could id the car cost me an extra £16 on top of the £16 for applying for the log book but thats gone up to £25 now any way

so if vin plate removed and it cant be found your going to have a hard time finding out its id and may end up with a q reg

Thanks Stig,as far as I know the welding was only on the floors so the numbers should still be there.25 Quid is not a lot to pay considering its only going to cost me the recovery fees and the logbook fees. Fingers crossed that the numbers are there.

Ah only just noticed that you mentioned it would be a plate, its been fully striped for a respray so there is a possibility that it still could have been removed for paint. Is it possible any one can post a pic of its location(obviously without your details showing).Hopefully I can talk the lady through finding it if its there.
