I want to paint my car in this colour:

[attachment=87833:P1060417_b.JPG]

which I believe to be Tweed grey and intend to use Rustoleum paint. Problem is Rustoleum only comes in one grey as standard, apparently I can get it mixed in almost any colour but I'm going to have to supply a colour code.

I'm showing my ignorance here but are there a few, or even one recognised system(s) to define colours? How do I find a code for Tweed Grey that the Rustoleum people will recognize?

Dave.

Tried that first time and they said no go.

After a quick Google I've learned there are international colour codes, UK systems, manufacturers codes and RAL codes, none of which seem to be interchangeable or cross referenced (though I could be wrong). What I need is some way of transferring the Tweed Grey GR.4 code (from your link, cheers) into something that modern manufacturers understand. Unfortunately I don't have a sample to get analysed or simply compare with a colour chart.

Now if I knew someone local with a Tweed Grey car I could hold a colour chart to it. Oooo, I see a request for help approaching.
