Spi Cutting Out

Car will start fine but once runing a while it some times under idles and cuts out.

ive changed the plugs and leads and still same problem.

when we got the mini over a year ago we had problems of over reving but that side of its sorted.
when i did a service on it whe nwe got the car there was no air filter so i put one in that i had in the shed wasnt new but was a little dirty im just wondering could it be that??????
it started since ive droped the oil and changed oil filter

any help on this would be much appreciated

Well hopefully you've read many other posts here and checked the vacuum hoses haven't you?...you have checked these haven't you? thats the first place I'd start and they're cheap enough, there are four hoses but nobody seems to stock the yellow hose which goes to the air filter but it seems that this is the least important anyway. There will be a long hose going from map sensor tube on bottom of ECU to the fuel trap that is the matchbox sized black plastic box that clips onto the bulkhead just under the air-filter the there is a short one that goes from the fuel trap to the rear of the inlet manifold (can be awkward to push back on due to lack of space) then there is the red one that fits next to this on the rear of the inlet manifold to the air filter housing.
Whilst the fuel trap is out blow through it to make sure it isn't clogged up with crap. check or even replace these to be sure then report back.

thanks guys ive checked the air pipes changed an end which goes on to the air box and changed the air filter for a k&n filter that fits in to the standard air box and started it up i get no poping and farting like i used to so im very confident that it will run better than ever
