Just knocked off my exhaust as I drove over a protected cable on the floor. Please help me to assess the damage ( what steps should I take?
I've attached two photos that show the sad situation.
Thank you all so much!

Was that exhaust hanger attached to the bodywork or the rear subframe? I had a pee shooter exhaust like that and it was bolted onto the rear subframe, so it wouldn't really tear like that

seems like all you need is new exhaust mounts. you might find that its blowing at the manifold to downpipe join, on your mini you just need to clean up the flanges and clamp, and use a smear of exhaust paste on the flange. i use a trolley jack under the exhaust to lift it up - (best place if you can is to put it in the bend where it goes up into the engine bay) - this helps to hold the exhaust in place while you put the clamp round it. raise the jack a bit more, so the exhaust and manifold is pushed together, then tighten the clamp. let the past set for 30 minutes, then run the car on idle to warm it up, this lets the paste set properly. after about 10 mins or so, its ready to drive.

Can't really tell where it was bolted to from the pics. It needs to be bolted to the subframe, depending what's actually broken you might need a new "reel" rubbery thing (I can't think of the name!) which goes between the mount and the subby to absorb shock, and a couple of nuts maybe. Not a big job.

i would get a new cotton reel for the end box and also see what the block is like holding the resinator on (the first round thing lol) as i knocked mine of and it had a tear in it so i got that replaced as well.

did the exhaust coming off cause that damage to the rear valance

how did the rear valence split like that, is it a fibreglass one or just bodged to look right?

im pretty sure all youd need to do is at most get new mounts and bolt it back on,
just make sure you reseal it all,

Here is how my non hanger subframe is attached to my hanger exhaust system:

Universal hanging strap on the OEM hole at the back:

Posted Image

Bracket made from a universal hanging strip (actually came in the pack with the universal hanger) with an exhaust o-ring onto the OEM rubber hanger thing:

Its just the right hight:
