Use Triumph Spitfire track rod ends, which are longer and the same fitting/threads. It's what the works cars used

Yep just standard Triumph Spitfire TRE.

Sounds like you need to centralise the rack, after fitting most neggy camber arms there is very few thread to go in the TRE anyway. Explains how to do this in the HBOL and with the spitfire TRE's all will be fine.

Thats entirely up to you, most people don't bother in fact they probably don't even think about it ! If your happy to drive around with only a few threads holding the tre's on. I personally aren't, so always fit spitfire tre's when ever fitting neggy camber arms. In saying that I have never seen a track arm pull out of the tre on the road.

You can unscrew the rod and see how much is screwed in to the rod end, you want a bit more depth than diameter.

Yep, that's what I did on the race one, so more movement if something bent. Triumph herald are the same too, I bought mine off ebay and never had a problem!

You really MUST extend the TREs if fitting -ve camber. Either use triumph as many have siad - or weld a nut on the existing TRE to extend the thread. I suggest you should have ~ 3/4" thread of the track rod screwed into the TRE! And of course - you must centralise the rack and make sure both TRE's are screwed on the SAME number of threads. As you adjust tracking - you must do so equally on both sides, or a very strange handling Mini will ensue!
