Hi really sorry to post this again  but Ime really not sure on this my engines cost me alot of money and dont want to break it so need to be 100 percent with this ive tried the serch but non of them really match my engine so anyway here is my question
Whats the valve clearence for the below spec ?. (Tappits under the rocker cover)

ive got a 1330cc , Moorespeed phase 3 cam, standard rockers and the engine number starts 12A Haynes says 0.33mm to 0.38mm for the 12a engine tried this but still taps quiet abit.

So what ime after is people with similer engine to me what valve clearences you are using with success or if anyone knows what it should be thats great to thanks guys :goaway: :( ;D :D

As much info as possible on this would be great

The HBOL does or it didn't have the spec for a 1330 with a cam of about 290 degrees and lot's of lift. Set 'em to 15thou, used this figure with 286's, 649's without any problems.

As 'Nightrain' says, set all valve clearances to 0.015" with the engine cold for high-lift cams. To get to a mm figure, multiply by 25.4 which gives 0.38 mm. For any Mini work you are really best to buy a set of Imperial (that's inch) feeler gauges.
It may sound a bit 'tappetey', but that's what it should be set to.

Anymore input on this guys >_<

(is a moorespeed phase 3 cam high lift)

I would imagine that a morspeed phase 3 would be a highlift cam, no good looking in the haynes manual when it comes to modified engine as pretty much most of it might aswell be thrown in the bin. Tappet clearance can vary from cam to cam but most highlift cams use .016" as a clearance. My wife runs a swift tune sw5 & they run at .015" where as my dads 286 uses .016" the same as my old 649. Best thing to do is ring morspeed & see what they recommend.

My engine runs a Piper Magnum 285/2 and I've always set them at 0.012" but they're pretty damn noisy and annoying at the higher speeds. Would it worth opening them up to 0.015"?

I would like to fit 1:5 roller rockers but I've read varying reports of very tricky to fit and set up properly. My cyl head has the full Piper kit with they're double valve springs, large Rimflow valves etc. Would things runs quiter with the RR but would it become less drivable?

It doesn't really feel as if it comes on the cam at the moment and I'm confident the cam timing is OK as it has vernier cam gear properly timed in.

I've had it on the R/Road at Minisport which gave an adjusted figure of 90bhp (1293cc) but it feels like it's lacking performance.

Any help would be appreciated.

Swap that cam, the 1.5's won't improve it. Had one of these when they first came out (285/2) and it just doesn't suit the A Series engine. Think mine had 86hp ATW iirc, only kept it 6 months if that before swapping for a 286 which pushed up the measured power to around 100hp without changing anything else.
It's a classic case of one profile not suiting all engines, it's was designed using normal engines with 8 ports and crossflow heads. Piper trying to save money just started producing it for all engines, including the A series with it's totally different parameters.
