my question is... is there different type of boot hinge things as mine dosnt pull the boot fully shut and there is a gap between the seal and boot, cant see any adjustment so is there different ones on different years?

annoying now and want to get it sorted as it has caused a whole lot of welding needing to be done around the boot floor

can anyone help please?

thanks.

AFAIK all boot hinges are the same from 1959 to 2000.

i'm quoting from what i remember from a mini mag, if it doesn't create a seal, where the handle latches onto the body work, (behind the boot seal in the middle) there is a latch plate, if the door doesn't shut, bend it further in (so the door is tighter against the car when closed) alternatively, if it's a new seal, try and work it backand forth for a while, as the seals can be stif enough to stop the latch working properly,

hope this helps, sam

If the gap in on the bottom then i remember you can get alloy spacers to fit on the hinges. Or the rubber gasket may be perished and compressed with age.
