I Have a sudden need for a large number of petrol cans following putting the wrong fuel in my 206. Any one got any ideas where the cheapest place for me to get hold of some fuel cans is as I was hoping to get the petrol out of the diesel Pug and then put it in the mini,

Unfortunately the mini's fuel tank is full atm so I need some fuel cans to put the petrol in so I can get the Pug going again asap.

Im in the leicester area if thats important.

Thanks

I wouldnt, the petrol thats in you pug will contaminated with diesel, Its ok to put a bit of pertol in a diesel did it myself the other day, 5 litres and the diesel ran perfectly, but to put diesel in a pertol, that could be bad news. Unless the pug was totally 100% empty.

For the green cans they normally are between £5-£8 depending where you go but if you go to a tesco petrol station they are £0.99.p and they are normally behind the counter you have to ask

I think there was about 4 or 5 litres of diesel left and i put about 46 litres of petrol in. Do you really think it would cause a problem? Wouldnt it just be like when your valve stems start to wear and you get a bit of oil burning off, so it might run a little smokey but other than that ok?

Wouldnt bother me if it was that diluted, especially if its on a carb. If you worried, just dilute it some more with more petrol.

its up to you, its you car, but the diesel wont burn properly in you mini, personally if it was me I wouldnt risk it.

I wish people would get this the right way round, A small amount of Diesel will not harm a Petrol car, on a carb you have no problems at all, as the petrol starts to burn it'll burn the Diesel too, it's only if you had a lot of Diesel, (talking closer to 50/50), that you'll have any massive problems.

A Diesel car, however, should not be run on Petrol, it damages the seals and increases wear. Again, diulted mixtures reduce the effect, so in small quantities it will work, however this is less preferred especially on a modern Diesel engine with close tolerance pumps and injectors, and fuel lubricated pumps! Contamination isn't a good thing!
