A 1000cc engine from a sports bike would be best as these tend to be the fastest. suprisingly most bike with the 1300/1400 engines tend to be slower but have much more torque. The V-twins (Ducati's Aprillias etc.) again are slower The best bet woud be a K5 GSXR the most powerful production sports bike around at the moment although it wont be cheap. Look for either yammaha YZF R1, Kawasaki ZX10R, Honda CBR Fireblade, or an older Suzuki GSXR. all these bike will easily do 180mph+ most are resticted as well, having a retarder controling 1st 2nd and 6th but this can be overcome with a power comander. Get some bike mags and have a look

It says R1 or Hayabusa, does this mean that the only bike engine that will fit the roll cage is these two or any bike engines?
Cheers for the info Tompo, thats what i was after.

I think z-cars can accomodate either the Yamaha R1 (998 about 160bhp) blackbird (1100 170bhp) Hyabusa (1300 180bhp) or a kawazaki zx9 can't remember the specs....
The R1 is popular as you can find them in a number of different trims (older carb versions or newer injected ones) and they're not hideously expensive. The Hyabusa is generally regarded as the "daddy" but expect to pay up to 2000 more for just the engine!!! :saywhat:
Personally I chose the R1 as it's the best compromise of power weight and price! I've got the 2003 injection so should be fairly easy to tune if need be.
