Well thanks for the complement mate, makes it all seem worthwhile.
Anyhow, today i decided to find and fit my steering colume cowl, I have not seen it since before the L2B, i was going to fit it but ran out of time so my son put it somewhere safe, so safe we couldn't find it, anyway, after keeping an eye open for it while in the garage for the last few weeks, looking for an hour the other day and an hour today, my son said, ave i looked in the rear bins in my car, which i had, more than once, but had i looked under the bin liners, Why would I? Guess where it was, yep he had put it in the passenger side bin then put the liner in, well at least it was safe.
So after a good clean, i got him to fit it .

good eh!
Also been using the car for work, had mixed opinions most of them liked it a couple of them came out with comments such as crap paint, and sounds abit rough. Found that a bit of a kick in the teeth, the paint isn't great, will be getting that sorted at a later date, and the exhaust was blowing a bit, so decided to ignore them.
Had to get my volvo out of the drive when i got home so i could get my mini in, and while walking back i decided to take this

Great little car - well done. Shows what a good job you've done that your workmates couldn't conceal their jealousy :)

Did you flat the paint back with 1200 grit and then use cutting paste and then T Cut? I have done this on very rough paintjobs and they have come out looking very good. There is a thread on how to do it pinned in the bodywork section.

Good advice mate.........if you nip it off all over with 2000 grit youll get an even better finish......use a buffer...plenty of water and Farecla G3 to start and the go on to polish, sealer, then wax and i think you will notice a huge difference.....try www.cleanyourcar.co.uk for products and www.detailingworld.com for advice. Boths sites have always helped me out.

Cheers

Tim

Thanks for the advice guys, i have flatted the paint back and used a buffer with G3 twice, then applied polish.
It did bring the paint up alot but still not quite right. I have been told it was too dry as it went on and we did have problems with the compressor blowing fuses every few minutes.
Maybe next year i think i might rub it right back and use a primer filler to smooth it over, as we should have spent more time prepping the body first as some of the faults are in the primer. Of course I will be keeping it the same colour as i love it. makes it look more of a toy than a real car.
Just for now i'll try to buff it by hand, as the paint is wearing thin in places, i.e door edges etc, even though we used the best part of 5 litres of top coat on it. Just shows you can't rush the prepping stage, my dad always says "Make haste slowly, you make less mistakes that way". So from now on no more rushing and no more deadlines.

Thanks mate, it does look really nice, its got a kinda old car patina which makes it look tidy but old, dont want perfect,so when i redo it i want nice even paint. Think some of the cars i see look too new, too plasticky, they look really nice but not what i want.
Couldn't find any pictures of your car posted, ave you got a project page.
