Is there an option to disable topic preview? I've had a look, didn't find it, wondered if I was looking in the wrong place. If topic preview didn't pre-load images I don't think it would bother me.

Erm, unfortunately there's not no. Though I'm almost certain this isn't a feature that will be applied (in its current guise) to the impending upgrade to the forum shortly.
