Firstly the two heads are from a 997/8 cooper and a 1098...

The two engine numbers are 1275's, both A series, and both are pre '74... I haven't got that far back on my engine decoder yet but the best I can do is... I don't think they are of mini origin, certainly not number which spring to mind as a 1275GT, and not the right format for a cooper block, so suspect they are from Austin 1300's, possibly allegro's

"Identification of the following cylinder head numbers: 12G202 and 12G295. "

Both the 202 and the 295 heads are for the small bore engine, IE: 850, 998, and 1098 cc,
The 202 head was fitted as standard to the 1098 and some of the 998 engine types, the 295 head originates with the 997 Coopers but actually predates the mini, but can be found on later pre 1970's 998 engines particularly those in genuine Cooper minis.

"I would also like to know what type of engine the following numbers represent please: 12H740WH378 and 12H1591130866, "

12 H refers generally to 1275 high compression engines if it’s a complete engine as the number also identifies the carburetor type and the gearbox spec in most cases

H refers to Horizontal.... as in transverse mounting

H meaning high compression would be at the end of the engine number prefix after the code and before the serial number, and was phased out sometime during the 70's

so... 12H740WH378 is a high compression engine

but

12H1591130866 is not

The heads have an intrinsic value, ebay fodder...

The blocks are a little more specialised... ( not many people use A series 1275 block - well compared to A+ )

Post up some pics..
