I'm thinking about getting a set of components to make the sound in my current setup a bit more even, at the moment I'm getting virtually no midrange out of it. I may change my mind once it's properly set up but that's probably what I'll end up doing.
My question is: which ones do you think would sound better with my current setup, the Infinity 5010cs or the Vibe SEK50? At the moment I've got a set of Infinity 9623i's in the rear shelf, 4" Pioneers up front and a Vibe CBR10 in the boot. If I had components up front the Pioneers would probably go in the rear bins, and the 6x9s and components would be amped up with the 4"s running off the head unit.
Cheers

Call me crazy, but im a stickler for having everything the same so it looks seamless, go with the Infinity's. Plus you know the brand as you own some of their gear already.

So am i, which is one of the reasons I'm wanting to upgrade, with my current front speakers being Pioneer
I was thinking a set of Vibe SEK50s or Blackair 5's would still match because of the sub though? And the speakers will all be hidden anyway, but still...
Only thing about the Infinitys is that they're only 75w RMS, which sounds daft but the Blackair 5s (100wRMS) would probably sound better on a 110w RMS per channel amp?
And which ones out of the Infinitys; the 5010CSs or the 5020CSs? Obviously the 5020s but are they that much better for 30 quid more?

haha, at least im not alone eh
Obviously the choice is yours, but both are likely to be a little overpowered by the amp if you really crank the gains up. Also, have you looked at the sensitivity and frequency responses of each set? Just a quick look says to me that the Pioneers are very slightly more sensitive (requiring less power to drive them to the same volumes as the vibes), but the Vibes have a slightly deeper frequency response. Looks as though its much of a muchness taking the wattage factor out of the picture. Personally i'd still go with the inifinity's followed by a more closely powered amp (if you havent got one already?)
Is your CBR10 active or passive? (just a thought for my own benefit really
)

Edit: P.S Anyone out there feel free to correct me if im wrong here

It does annoy me having everything in my system made by a different brand
I would need to buy the amp yes, it's my first install and I don't have any lying around...
Do you mean the Infinitys not the Pioneers, because I haven't linked to any Pioneers
the Infinity's are slightly more sensitive but volume's not really what I'm after, but I suppose the bass response of the Vibes wouldn't be too important with the sub; its only a small difference anyway. But the Infinity's have 2 advantages: I could get a slightly cheaper amp, and it'd be all nice and matched up
What i was thinking about with that amp though is the 6x9s, I thought I'd get a powerful amp for them then just set the gains properly for the components? Would the extra volume over say a 75w rms amp be worth the cost and messing about?
So I'm now leaning towards the Infinitys with a less powerful amp... And the CBR10's active, less messing about!

Doh! Yeah, i meant the Infinities....
OK, so you dont have an amp already so whats your budget for it? I'll see what I can find that might be suitably matched for your requirements. You need to remember though, wattage doesn't equal volume (well, not directly anyway). My amp is only 50w per channel but is loud enough to make my ears ring when running at a fair whack. Take a look at this and you'll get the idea:

Active CBR10 - whats the sound repro like? Smooth Punchy and integrated with the music or a little boomy? (had an active pioneer myself some time back and never really got on with it).
Sounds as though you're getting a grasp on my personal view though, still entirely up to you on what you want to go for though
Watch this space for an amp suggestion or 2.

The active CBR10 - it's certainly loud, accurate and smooth (perhaps a little too smooth but the manual assures me it'll become more punchy with use), and I'm very impressed with it considering I haven't set the gain or xover frequency yet (just put the knobs on half...) and it isn't run in either. Once it is all setup and run in I'll do an update on that
Unfortunately my ICE plans have changed now because I've just spent all my budget on an alarm (doh) and I'm really looking to cut costs now so the new speakers are out for the moment I'm afraid... Unless I can find some free or nearly free somewhere!! (will give a few quid or some stuff for a set of 5 or 6 inchers)
My main priority now is an amp, any 4 channel amp with more than 50w rms (after what you've said) amp for free or very cheap, second hand obviously and the condition isn't important so if anybody could help out there I would be eternally grateful!! I have some stuff I could swap for it, and a few quid, so if you can help a Mini owner in need (or just get shot of an old amp lying around) free would be nice but I dont mind giving a few quid and/or some stuff for it.
The full Infinity system will come one day, cheers for your help Watso, I'll be saving this thread for when I have money :]

Watso, you have just been super helpful, can't wait until I can afford the stuff you recommended!!
In the meantime, I got a set of brand new Fusion components from the great bay of e for 27 quid (40 on caraudiosecurity, 50 everywhere else!!) so they're poor man's components but they'll suffice until my budget allows for the Infinitys. My budget's completely shagged now anyway so i thought well, what's another 27 quid
(as opposed to 70 for the Infinitys
)
I would have asked your advice but I only saw them about 2 minutes before the auction ended and I thought you might not have time to reply!! Agonising trying to decide whether or not to buy them but I think I made the right choice, they get good reviews so fingers crossed!
