I added an over-flow radiator bottle to my Cooper S and lowered engine temp about 5-6 degrees..it added about a pint to the system and removed a lot of air and maybe a hot spot? JC

In the owners handbook is stated 3,8 ltrs..usually i put a 1,5 litres of glycol-ethylene based antifreeze then top up with water.

Sorry to wake up a majorly old thread but i'm confused (for a change :P ) I've emptied my rad of the tomato soup that was in there by taking off the bottom hose, running water through it until it ran clear, refilled it...re-emptied it now I've come to fill it with coolant/water from empty and I can only fit 1.5 litres in, what's occurring? Can anyone point out to me what I've inevitably done wrong? :D
Thanks,

Try removing the thermostat, re-fitting the cover and running the hose through to clear all the nasty stuff out.
