I've was given a Gunson tachostrobe a while back (the green one with the rpm ranges on the side) and was about to use it for the first time when i realised i had no idea on how to set the advance with it O_O . I don't really understand why it has the rpm ranges with a dial and what you do with it! Can anyone enlighten me on how to do this?? :proud:

what he's describing doesn't sound like the later advance gun, its sounds like one I had about 20 yrs ago.

Thanks guys, but Irostoke is right, its not the advance type and is over 20 years old (given to me by my Grandad). I've searched for hours but just don't have a clue about this rpm range thingy.

What wires have you got attached to it & what clips/terminals are on the ends? Maybe by a process of elimination we can help.

It uses a standard plug for power and then has two springs in a t-piece to a wire which the gun takes its signal from. These springs go on the plug and the lead, Its the same as this chap.
