Nah I haven't at the moment, for a very good reason - It's just a stripped interior with just 2 seats and a speedo/petrol/temp gauge. Will get a pic once I've installed my oil pressure gauge for this rebuild.

Ha, fair one. Know the feeling. Need some inspiration dammit!

OOOOOOK.... So, got it running again today. Whoever said the 286 is tame was doing it wrong.. With my huge inlet and exhaust ports + valves it is totally MENTAL. The difference in the engine note is really noticable and makes it go like a rocket.

The only issue is now.. the bloody brand new extra strong diff pin fell out AGAIN just as I pulled up at home after the first test drive :teehee: :D :) >_< >_< >_< >_< >_< >_< >_< >_< >_<. I'm such an idiot, I've obvioiusly not installed the diff pin correctly? I know there is a notch in it but I didn't check it was in the right way. Can anyone think what I've done wrong?

I'm hoping I can just hoist the engine out and remove the diff cover to fix this?

I think after all that, it's the best way to go for security aha :D

I must admit, the 286 does appeal!! The car is amazing mate :)

Greg.

There should be a roll pin that secures the diff pin into the cage. It will only fit one way so you need to make sure the diff pin is the right way round.

Thanks guys, made a smile reading your posts :(

Car just after the diff pin falling out:

So.. lots has happened since the car broke again.

Bought x-pin diff:

Cut up an old toolbox and attached it to the dash to hold my gauges temporarily until I can get something made in aluminium.

Ouch.. less than 3 miles old:

Oh.. and did this..AGAIN:

I've got the x-pin installed now and it looks and feels solid as fooook. There's no play at all like the old diff which should make it really nice to drive. I found that the shims they give you make the diff totally lock up once you start to torque the crown wheel down so I had to re-use the old shims which seems to work a treat.

The engine is currently sat in the bay waiting to be reconnected, so hoping to have a chance to do that soon and it should be back finally!

It runs! and drives! Took it for a good 15 mile thrash this evening and it's rediculous. The fueling and dizzy advance is way off but still fun to drive. Just need to get some megajolt bits now and the right needle.

LOVE the induction roar it has now. Will get a video soon.
