I was thinking of a cheapo 318 to waft around in during the salty winter but I think MX5 is an itch I want to scratch, they have such a good reputation over a Pistonheads. Naturally I'll be getting the diff locked.

Sort of, the auction is for the shell and associated parts. I'll be selling all the engine parts separately, so the following parts will be up for grabs in the next week or 2:
- Stage 3 head with double valve springs
- Alloy rad (done 60 miles since new)
- Minispares adjustable timing chain
- Kent 286MD Camshaft (done 60 miles)
- Gearbox with
- Straight cut drop gears (For A+ Engines)
- Standard rockers
- 1275 block
- Transfer case and bell housing
- Rocker cover
Also have these laying around:
- 2 12g240 heads (Standard)
- standard 1275 camshaft
- set of new cam followers
..and loads more
Will put it all on ebay over the next week and post link.
