Small update. Not really done a great deal since the last update but I've just ordered a new front brake setup for 10" wheels. Hoping to go with Wellers or anything 6x10. Let me know if any of you have something for me ;D I'm near Portsmouth!

Hoping to get negative camber all round soon too. Then hopefuly bucket seats with 4 point harnesses. After that I'll move onto making it a bit quicker. The stage 1 1275 in there at the moment is OK, but hasn't been setup properly. I'm either going for a head / cam upgrade or maybe even take it a bit further by boring it out.. Unfortunately I still have a lot to learn on that front so that won't be for a while!

Update time! I've just received the new front brake setup so will be attempting to fit that tomorrow. I've also got some 6x10 Wellers on the way too. Car will be off the road for a few days so I can get a few niggles sorted :o Pictures soon!

Am I safe to the run my current 12" wheels with the 7.5" brakes until the 10s arrive?

Try Pm'ing roofless on here. I'm sure he can sort you out some of those stickers quite easily :)

Good work.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. Inspiring to know peoples thoughts! :D

I'm taking the car off the road tomorrow for a few days to sort install the new front brakes and lower the front end. Might tidy the bodywork around the arches as well. Pics will follow! I've got a friend helping me build a simple, yet functional dashboard out of aluminium. I've got lots of gauges to go in there and I'm going to get an emergency cut-off switch. I'm also looking to replace the standard dash clocks with a digi-dash.

After all that I'll begin the process of losing some weight. This includes:

- Rear seat and bench removal
- Carpet and sound deadening removal
- Polycarb side and rear windows / winder mechanism removed
- Door lightening
- Fibreglass boot and bonnet
- Bucket seats with 4 point harnesses
- (possibly) Rear bin removal / add roll cage.

After that I will move onto the engine. Not really sure what the plan is yet, but the current one definitely needs a rebuild. It's a little bit smokey when warm and the clutch will need doing soon. Hoping to just pickup something pre-built that can just be swapped over.

The only issue is after the above modifications I can't really use it as a daily drive so I'm going to have to sort out another car soon!

Update!

So, started to install the new brakes today. Nearside went fine, easy job! When I got to the offside I ran into a problem.. The kit I ordered had two nearside calipers.. this meant that I couldn't do anymore than put the new disk on. The car is now sat with a caliper missing.. ah well. Just as well I was taking it off the road for a few days. Minisport were great and sorted out collection and replacement straight away so that should be sorted tomorrow or Wednesday! Minisport are so much better these days.

After all that I got bored.. so I painted the bonnet black.. what do you think? I'm still unsure!!

Dont mean to bea critic, all your work is awsome!

But maybe you should of gone for a matt black or something like... Matt black/Really dark grey.. Looks abit too shinny for a different colored bonnet

I know what you mean.. funnily enough the paint I put on was labelled as "satin black". I don't know why it went glossy as when I've used the same paint elsewhere it has dried satin but it didn't on the bonnet. I'm replacing the bonnet with a fibreglass one soon anyway so will spray it with matt black then.

Right! Car is now back on the road with shiny new brakes. The brakes don't exactly work amazingly at the moment, but I guess they need to be run in. They have got better throughout the day today as the car has been driven more. How long should I expect it to take to run them in fully?

Random pic!
