The wheels look great!
Were they powdercoated before or just painted. I stripped one of my wellers back to metal and it took me ages to do. Did you use anything special?

Cheers all!

1275_SPRITE - I think they were powder coated before and had a few layers of spray on top of that. I got it all off by a good dousing with nitro-mors and a wire brush drill attachment. Made it pretty easy!

Thanks for that, I used nitromors, but ended up scraping it off by hand  . I'll try the wire brush attachment,

Thanks

I got bored today so thought I'd have a mess around under the bonnet. Previously the manifold was connect up inline with the heater hose, I've removed the manifold out of the circuit after reading the adverse effect having it connected up can have. I also replaced the themostat and rocker cover gaskets.

It turns out that the speedo cable was arranged in such a way that it was literally forcing the fuel pipe from the pump to the carb to rest on one of the LCB brances! Not safe at all. Sorted that now though.

This engine really needs some work doing on it, it's a bit smokey and it really doesn't perform well. I realise this is because the car hasn't been tuned at all since whoever put the engine mods on. I'm hoping to find a replacement 1275 in good condition to pair with a nice head and drop that in. I don't feel I can do an engine rebuild yet. I may use the current engine as a learning project and see what happens.

Oh yeah, also.. does anyone recognise the color of the car? It's not the original color as the interior is white. I've been told by someone that it is Vermillion.. which I really am not sure about. Any thoughts?

Cheers CobraV8, will grab a can of Vermillion and give it a go.

Decided to do a compression test today, the results were: 135 140 150 145. Is this generally a good reading?

I also whipped the plugs out for the first time since getting the car, here's how they look:

I'm pretty certain It's over-fueling at the moment, is this color indicating my suspicions?

Just ordered some Yoko A008 tyres to go on the Wellers, so hopefuly this weekend the car should have some nice new wheels to roll on. The 12's will be up for grabs :P

Plans next up are for a full service, new exhaust (1.75" Center exit). Then a full rolling road tune-up!

OK so it turns out I haven't got Yoko A008s on the way at all. It seems that a certain well known merchant lists products and allows you to buy them even if they don't have them in stock. In the end I went elsewhere and bought these beasts:

So, this Saturday will see those fitted to my Wellers! Woop >_<

In other news, I found my windscreen seal is leaking. Time for new seals I think.
