Cheers chap.
Looks smart.

I'm now on the look out for some 10 x 6 wellers lol. Already ordered the tyres, so best not change my mind.

Disagree about large bore exhausts. I've got a 2 inch with 3 inch tail pipe from fletcher nd it makes considerbly more than the standrd pee shooter and I love the noise, will sound even better with supercharger and straight cut gears

Cars looking great, so glad you dropped it to 10's

But i have a few questions for ya, as im about to do some very similar things. Have you noticed a big power increase with the stage 3 head? Are the yoko tyres much better in the dry over other tyres? Worth the cash?

And also what shocks are you running? Just so i know if i can slam mine too

Thanks man

Thanks! Power increase, yeah I'd say so but only after changing the needle to richen the mixture. I hope to see lots more power once I can afford to take it to Slark Race Engineering for a proper tune up.

The Yokos, yes they were VERY good in the dry however I don't tend to push the car to the limit of grip very often but even then they wore out in a period of a few months. I'm running on budget falkens now which are just as good for my usage and don't wear anywhere near as quickly. Worth the cash? Yeah they are if you like track days, but for public road usage they are not needed and you'll rarely use them to their full potential.

Shocks, Spax adjustables wound all the way up to the hardest setting. Exhuast tucked right up as much as possible. My old exhaust would catch on cats eyes!

Small update time. Boring I'm afraid..

I've replaced the head gasket as it wasn't happy with my last attempt when I changed the head, it was bubbling near the engine number place when warm and getting really hot. I also used a dodgy torque wrench to tighten it up so hopefully this time round it'll be better.

I'm off to a rolling road on Friday to get it properly tuned up so I can finally take advantage of the new ported head and changes to the exhaust arrangments. I've no idea how many BHP it'll make, would love anything 60+ really, I know it's making much less than that at the moment as it's sloooow due to bad tuning.

My next plans are for the interior, rollcage + buckets and harnesses as well as potentially polycarb windows too.

Needs a new rad as well, and maybe thinking about a blowover redneck respray with rattle cans.

Couldn't get a video George as didn't even make it to the rolling road!

I lost a bolt from the bracket that holds the clutch slave cylinder in place, which meant that instead of the clutch being disengaged the whole bracket was moving when the pedal was pressed. Had to get recovered but had it back on the road again within 30 mins of getting home as I had a spare bolt luckily.

I got really bored today so decided to do a little experiment. A year or two ago I bought one of those supposedly crappy quick shifts from Minispares for £30. I decided to dig it out and fit it to my mini to see if what people say is true. It was really easy to fit and to be totally honest, it's bloody awesome. People may say they're crap, but so far I'm really impressed with it.

Had it on S.R.E's rollers today. It made 68.3bhp and 74lbs/ft of torque, which isn't great so I guess It's time to think about a decent cam to unlock the cylinder head's potential.

The high revs on the RR made the clutch come loose and nearly caused a big failure, fortunately I managed to get it tightened up so I could nurse it home. Now need to have the Wok off to get some locktite on the bolts and make sure they are torqued correctly. Big mistake by me there! Insurance runs out next month so it may just come off the road for the winter... Not really sure at the moment.

Sorry to hear about the clutch troubles mate glad you got it sorted quick, and i agree with you on the quickshifts once you get used to them there good. The power figures are pretty good really and don't forget its got quite soft cam as its a later engine, like you said try a new cam and see what you get, have you got anything in mind yet? :)

EDIT: vid sounds great too.

I really love that straight cut whine!

Is it hard to live with?

How many pennys have you spent on the engine to get it to those figures?
