As i've mentioned in a few other posts, i bought myself a new car yesterday, the shell itself is great, no rot or serious rust, just a few bubbles here and there.

So whats the best way to get rid of these bubbles?

Can i do it with a a few cans of paint from halfords or what?

How do i go about removing them?



And whilst im on here, i have chrome wheels, which have a few flakes on them too, is there any way of making these neater without cost?

As regards to your Alloys, here is a link to a tutorial I'm following for my alloys. I've just acquired a set of Minilites that are in need of a refurb. so I'm running that tutorial - I'll let you know how I get on.

Removing rust

Grind away at the rust with an angle grinder of a drill with a rust remover flappy
Wheel

U can get them from halfords

Remove rust and an min of an 1inch of surrounding sound paint to make sure its been fully removed

Mask off around area and re paint with a metal etch primer, then normal primer, then the colour and finish it of with some lacquer
Do this as soon as pos to stop new fresh rust forming

For a smooth finish lightly sand in between coats

Do bear in mind that as small bit of rust could once paint is removed look like this.

This is the extent to which i have rust, not the best picture, just a zoomed in image taken from another picture.

Its about 3/4inches long and 1/2 inchest wide the patch of rust.

U can never tell until the paints been removed.

Try using a screwdriver to see what’s what.

Im going to do it all in one go, not picking away with a screwdriver then leaving it with a hole and scratch in my paintwork.. i'll treat it and apply the first layer of paint all in one go.
