i've seen those digital clocks that fit into the ashtray but i have no idead where to buy them or how much they cost...anybody know where?

I brought a car which had one fitted but not wired up I attempted this but only got it to come on with the ignition so for a clock is a bit pointless lool
Anyone point me in the direction of where abouts I should wire it up?

Thanks James, i couldn't find it. They're designed to fit minis with the flip out ashtrays right?

The semi circular one which swivels round? Yeah I believe so

If you have a radio in your car there will almost certainly be a constant live going to that which you can tap off. Best bet is to use a voltmeter - earth one probe and get poking around with the other till you find a constant live
