I've heard a couple of times that 13" wheels makes the mini skittish and makes the car handle poorly?
If the car is set by the factory at .5+ camber and by adding 13" deep dish wheels thus making the car 1.0- camber surely the car will decrease understeer and make the car handle better ...... Or have i got this all wrong?
I've just purchased some 13" deep dish wheels today with the usual 175x50x13 tyres, but the last thing i want is to effect the handling. What would be the best solution to fix this if anyor is it a case of being blown out of propotion?

thanks

best bet with putting 13's on is new dampers, the adjustable ones probably would be best.
new adjustable tie bars and camber tracking kit would possibly help to improve the handling on 13s as well.

Best solution is to get fully adjustable suspension, so you can reset the suspension geometry for the bigger wheels, this is the only way you will get them to handle better.

13" wheels will always degrade the handling as they alter the design configuration of the suspension and steering. That's apart from spoiling, IMHO, the appearance of the Classic Mini.
Also, with 13" wheels the offset means that the wheel bearings and suspension components will wear out more quickly.

i dont understand what your saying... you think you will get extra camber by adding differend wheels (that dosnt make any sort of sense)?

or are you planning to set the car at 1.0 neggy?

Hi Rick I purchased some new 13" superlites with 175x50x13 dunlop sp2000 tyres on saturday from a well known mini dealer. This is what I was told ......... "By fitting 13" deep dish wheels it will decrease the camber by 1.5- and it will make the steering lighter". So if the camber is set at .5+ then fitting the wheels will make the camber 1.0- Iwas already aware of the handling trait with fitting 13" wheels, just wanted to know how to sort it out.
As for not making any sense then I dont know to be honest, please bare in mind your talking to a guy who knows absolutely nothing about cars let alone camber.

cheers

Infact its false..theyre 175s!
Honestly cant see why they give -1 camber...thats the first time i hear this! Maybe because sportpacks have a different geometry setup, but cant be the wheels themseves..
