Looking at the speel it looks like it but I have never used this so wouldn't like to guarantee it. In the past I have used layers of primer to seal in all sorts of old paints with good results. Generally I use barcoat then prime then paint. Be careful of the mix ratio although it says 5:1 mix some of these high builds wont go through the gun & need to be thinned. If you do decide to use it let me know how you get on. Try contacting the supplier to confirm before buying.

i use barcoat only if something reacts with another old layer of paint and put that down first then primer afterwards. That primer your referring to is ABSOLUTLY FANTASTIC its a very hi-build and covers creators of dints that nomral hi-build should but don't. Use it 5:1 with hardner then 10-15% 2k thinners. Altho this is a very good product look for the lechler version as i find this even better. It's called Green TI acrylic stopper 5:1. P.s Very easy to sand aswell....

cheers mini mad daps fountain of knowledge as usual, will give jawel a ring see if they have the lechler in, does that primer work as a sealer too or do you apply sealer/barcoat as well.

also what nozzle diameter do you use at 5:1 when priming. and do you use hvlp or hp gun.

ps nice work in the picture. what grade do you sand off with after priming and do you use a da sander or hand

sorry for the list of questions sounds like my mother at although at least i didnt ask what protection you used

thanks again

Hi there,
I spray high build primer with a 1.8 nozzle, then dust with black paint as in mini mad daps pictures & wet flat with a block & 800 grit. Shows up any marks really well & leaves it nice & smooth ready for top coat, some people use 320 on a da but I'm not keen on that.

yeah same as what everyone said here really. i use a 1.6 hvlp gun for the primer and a 1.3 hvlp iwata for top coat. Now heres the debatable bit that you will get from alot of people.. i wet block sand primer back with 320 if its another coat goin on but 1000 or 1200 depending on quilty of paint job if its top coat. i say its debabtable because alot of people turn there nose up at wet flatting primer as its pourous.. long as you dont apply another coat until its completely dry your fine... and as for protection young man!!!! a good mask hahaha!

thanks

andy

depending on how bad your mini is ans how good you want the finish... id prob just put a base of primer down let it get tacky.. another heavyier layer of primer then let that set.. then sand back. You can either sand back to 800 1000 or 1200 and top coat if your happy with it or flat back with 320 wet or dry.. let it dry totally then another coat. generally try to keep priming down to a minimum as the more layers of primer you put on the more or features you loose at the end like lines and what not.

go for 2-3 layers of primer depending on what its like when you start. then depending on what paint you use... good couple of layers to build it up.. if its 2k id do at least 3 coats and a good 2-3 if base then as many clear as you dare!! hahahaha

no your dnt have to with 2k paint you can... just adds to shine but not alot of point really to be honest.. as you still get a good shine from 2k. laquers just there now adays for your acrylic bases and what not.. as they dnt shine when put on.. so the clear does the work for it.
