a hairdryer to warm it up, and just be careful when you peel it off. use some tar remover when you've finished to remove any residue thats left, then just clean the car and polish after. if the sticker has been on there for a while you might notice marks or a slight change in the paint colour, the polish might help to remove/minimize them.

insted of a hairdryer, you could also use hot water.

^^ yep best things a hair dryer and some tar remover. i used the autoglym stuff worked a treat ;) just make sure to wash it off afterwards

oh and dont try to do too much all at once. a small bit at a time is best but if you run the hair dryer all over the area then it gives the glue time to soften up so by the time you get to the next bit its a bit easier

Another vote for hair dryer here too. Put the hair dryer on full heat/power and heat the area up. Then use your fingernail to carefully peel the sticker away. I used this method to remove 20+ year old stickers on my old City.

Hairdrier is the way to go.
About the residues, im glad no one mentioned petrol, the crappest way to remove them.
Another use of WD40 is to remove the glue residues from bodywork.
Less aggressive than petrol, which yes, works wonders, but i wouldnt reccommend it at all because u'll need to t cut the paint degradated by petrol itself, so basically you have to do double work with a bad result anyway.

If the stickers have been on a long while, then a hairdryer may not be strong enough to warm them up. If this is the case the best thing to use is a heat gun to warm them up.

Panel wipe or synthetic thinners is the best way to remove any glue thats left.

Dont mean to contradict you. But i removed my 19yr old Mayfair badges & strips with just a hairdryer... May of been lucky.

I didnt say a hairdryer wouldn't be strong enough. I said it may not.

It all depends on how the car has been stored, how old the stickers are. how long after paint the stickers were fitted and type of vinyl. You wont know untill you come to remove it. No one car will have exactly the same life as another.

:) bit extreme?? low temp hairdryer and some small degree of patience always works. may leave residue but it'll clean off with panel wipe if your brave or T-cut if your not.

people can get a bit carried away with hairdryers, and the modern Nicki Clarke jobbies and similar could melt rock at 20 paces from what I've seen of the misses on a rush job of a bouffant.

take it gently and be patient.

;D

Call Jawel Paints on 0121-558-6191, they will sell you a stripe removal tool, basically its a big round rubber that goes into the chuck of your power drill, this will remove stripes and any L.E. decals in minutes without any damage to 2k paint.

It did though, start to melt old cellulose so be gentle with it!!
