I have removed the wing mirror (standard Rover H plate style) from my Mini becase the glass is a bit loose and rattles and vibrates VERY annoyingly but I'm completely stuck trying to take it apart! I can't find any instructions on the web, on here, or in Haynes, and I don't want to start forcing things in case I snap the plastic or smash the glass...

I'm sure it's absolutely straightforward, and I'm going to look very silly, but I just can't figure it out.

I'm thinking it's got something to do with the little hole on the bottom, although that could just be a drain hole...

It's very simple. You throw it in the bin and buy a new one. They are not a servicable part, replacement glass for them was only ever sold as a piece that sticks on top of what is already there. They do not come apart.

Seriously? The annoying thing is I'd have to spray a new one as it's bodycolour (RSP isn't it). They're not cheap either. Seems very OTT for rattly glass! Grr!

Hmm so that comes with the black surround... and it just sticks over the top of the old one?!

I've padded the gap between the plastic and the glass with some Blu Tak for now. I'll try to find some black equivalent to do the job properly...
