hi, just writing too ask; im 6'4" and my cousin has a mini mayfair and basically i would love to be able to get one but im thinking that if i was driving it everyday it would become very uncomfortable..

and basically was thinking of asking you people just a simple suggestions for making it easier for me to fit in and comfortably drive one :) cheers, any suggestions would be appreciated?

ive heard of extending the seat brackets? but was wondering the cost? and technical ability needed to be able too do it?

i dont mind losing my rear seats if that would make it a lot easier for me?

:D

Hello Dave, yes you can drive a Mini and you can also adjust the seats so they go back further by simply using a couple of spanners to undo the bolts and nuts that secure the seat frames to the brackets. Then you can reposition the seats on the rearmost peg/hole and after refitting the nuts and bolts you'd be amazed at how much leg room that provides.

If that's still not enough, then the adaptor brackets are cheap and also very easy to fit and you'll just be needing those spanners again.

So go for it mate.

moving seats is relitively easy mate, although it helps if you can weld. you could buy a pair of bucket seats and knock up a pair of subframes and basically put the seats where you want. im 6'2" and thats what ive done and its fine for me now. a lad at work is taller than me and he fits in his standard car ok.

I'm 6'4 and have my seats on the brackets so they sit further back. I don't use my rear seats so it's all good that way. I use it as my everyday car too so have no problems with it being uncomfortable. It's easy to do like has been said just unbolt the seat subframe from the front mount and fit these brackets and then bolt back up. No need for any welding or anything tricky. You can get the brackets in most mini shops like minispares, minisport etc

Hmmmm he'd have to have legs and arms 5ft long >_<

I have seat brackets and they're cheap and VERY quick and easy to fit. I have standard later type seats in mine so I'm limited in how far the seat could go back as the rear side 'bins' stick out, I'm not sure what the old type seats were like as they were smaller, also worth looking at aftermarket seats although again I'm unsure if they'll be too wide. Alternatively you could modify the rear side bin which would allow you some more seat travel as the main issue with seat travel is the rear bin sticking out a tad too much.

I'm 6'2" and find the driving position no problem. It is a bit tough after a few hours on my knee but that is due to an old injury.

I would possibly consider using the offset brackets if you feel you need them.

Enjoy them and become one of the few people in the UK still driving one of the little gems.

Don't forget it's not just legroom you need. A mini has little in the way of headroom. I'm only 6 feet tall and I sometimes feel my hair brushing on the headliner (though I have some big hair) But you can remove the headliner and carpet the roof to give yourself an extra few inches (lol).
So you shouldn't have any worries once you've made some room for youself.

Do it, im 6ft 1" and ive got mamba bucket seats in mine, i think its easier with the buckets as you sit slightly lower, and im fitting a steering column drop bracket aswell, you'll be fine!!
