Hi Folks,

Fitted an inner wing mounted cooling fan which I am now wiring up. I want to get hold of the correct wiring harness connector to match the fan connector. It's got 2 spade connectors and is water proof. Does anyone know where I can get this? Or failing that a supplier where I can get a water proof 2 pin connector that will carry the current for the Fan (about 20 amps?)?

Can't go down the scrap yard or look around Mini shows as I am in Australia so late UK Mini's are as rare as hens teeth!

Its an off the shelf part from Tyco Electronics (AMP) as they used to be called... >_< make sure that you get the correct terminals and seals.... the terminals can be tin, silver or Gold plated go for Tin and of the correct wire size. :D

Thanks but can you give me more info? I have searched their website and cannot find anything... Part numbers or a link would be great!

You may need to phone them with a part number, i'll see if I have the connector part number somewhere and get back to you, unless someone else has it of course >_<

Did you have any luck with this? I fear Tyco/AMP no longer make automotive connectors as I have trauled their website without finding anything...

In case I cannot get the correct connector can anyone recomend a good 25 amp waterproof connector? All the ones I have are only good to 16.5 amps, as the fan runs at 15 amps that's a bit too close!

Cheers...

Sorry, been a little tied up with manufacturing at the moment, I still need to go over and take a look :D

Waterproof connectors simply do NOT exist...... as ther are too many leak paths, however a typical connectors resistance is measured on hours per band..... if you look at the seals around the wire then for every "rib" it will repel water for about 250hrs..... so a 3 rib seal should be good for 750hrs..... this is a rule of thumb and obviously in between you would hope that it will dry out.

I've found it! :D

www.simtekuk.co.uk/www.simtekuk.co.uk/info.php?p=12&cat=129612

Not sure how but after much searching I think I have turned up trumps... If this isn't the connector then it's a copy. I will get both halves anyway to be sure. Oh and the company seem realy helpfull too. I shall order today.

If you want any electrical stuff check out their range they have some awsome stuff, wish I had found them sooner...

I am going to order one of their bulkhead connectors for the engine harness, again been looking for ages for something like this...

Thanks for the help...
