HELP!

I'm trying to change the rear dampers and cones, and I can't get the nut off the bottom of damper. (drivers side)
I think the main problem is I can't get the socket in, and the spanner just wants to round it off - which would be bad.

Soaked loads of WD40 in already.....and I think it's 9/16 nut size

Any ideas on how to get it off ?

is the socket and rachet hitting off the edge of the subframe?? if it is just jack the hub up or let it down til tha socket will fit in, think a 13mm spanner fits it
