This may be an easy question for most people but I do not have any mechanical exp at all but I am removing the ebgine of my mini. I intend to jact the car up and remove the wheels - which way round does the hub nut undo as I have been heaving both ways but to no avail - (should the handbrake be on or off)

Cheers for any help.

Steve

If you really can't get it undone (front nuts are normal threads by the way, loosey lefty, tighty righty) you can undo the ball joints, brake hose, and steering arm. Then pull the lot out in one go.

The front hub nut is likely to have been torqued up to about 150lbs mark, so you will need a 2ft+ extension bar on the end of your knuckle bar (don't use a ratchet, it'll) or more if you don't eat your Weetabix.

I would recommend trying harder on taking the nut off the normal way for a bit first.

try heating the nut then put the wheel back on and lower the car, get some1 to hold the break pedal down and try undoing the nut through the center of the wheel

sometimes you may even need to use chisel and big hammer worked at classic mini bits house >_<

you put the chisel on the middle part off the castle nut and angle to hit the nut anti clockwise
