If I was to get a Safety Devices front cage, could I get a rear cage at a later date to create a full roll cage? Or is a full cage something different?

Hi Jammy.

I have a SD rear cage, to which a front cage can attach. Im not sure you can just get the front though as I belive it needs the rear cage for suppost.

If you have the front and back this will create a full cage but I think a full cage means a whole cage rather than front and back joined together.

I could be wrong though...

yup, CB's right, the front cage needs the rear cage to bolt to.

You're actually probably best getting the rear cage then getting the front cage later on, or just getting them both at the same time, to make a full cage.

i see where your comming from jammy....

but teh reality is, theres no such thing is a front cage....only a rear cage or a full cage! its better to think of it in terms of points....

a rear cage is 4point, and a 'full' cage is 6point, although the cages used in miglias and such lke can go up to 20-30point i think, as they add tabs onto teh exhaust tunnel, a-pllars, b pillars, and just about everywhere else!

the rear cage is what most people settle for, usually consisting of a single hoop going from the sills, up to teh roof, across, then back down. these bolt up inside teh rear door bins, and each upright has a elg going back onto teh rear wheel arch.

the front part of teh cage then bolts to the rear cage at the top of teh rear windows, and consists of a single part on each side that comes along the roofline, and down the a-pillar to teh floor. joining these is a bar above your head, running along the top of teh windscreen.

you can also then add door bars between the front and rear uprights, for added rigidity and protection....

If I got a rear cage, is it still possible to use the rear seats? i am sure I have seen some with a removable diagonal. I assume you can put this in when going things like ahem nurburgring?

Yoy can get cages without the diagonal so that you can use the rear seat.

Check your insurance before fitting as they do not like them. aslo without decent seats and belts there is no point in fitting a cage.

Yea, I have one Cobra Imola seat and one Cobra Clubman, with 4 point harnesses, I want to fit the harnesses to a harness bar eventually as at the moment I have the mounted to the rear seat belt holes (not on the C pillar or parcel shelf).
