Hi,
Ive a 998cc 1986 mayfair and its running hot on the temp guage after approx 15 mins or so......... Ive flushed out the system and taken out thermostat and it still does same.... Its not losing water or creating bubbles in the rad either... Rads not blocked, top and bottom hoses are getting warm too.
It does seem to have a fair blow coming out of oil filler cap when i remove it... Is this normal? or could it have anything to do with the overheating?
Thanks in advance guys

Check also the crankcase breather behind the block on the rad side, it could be blocked.
Do you notice blue clouds of smoke from the exhaust when cars under load? If so, start investigating the piston rings, which means engine out..

If it's blowing out the oil filler - the engine is knackered. Overheating could be several things - most likely is at least partly blocked radiator - you should NOT run without thermostat.

Could be a blocked breather, definitely worth a check before writing off the block
