Well the clubman passed its MOT, got all the suspension set-up, got a years tax an insurance.
But the engine was spluttering and was slowly getting worse as i drove it more, till eventually it was un-drivable.
So i thought as it had a new fuel system on it all it could be was ignition, so i changed the plugs, leads, coils and flywheel pick-up, but it made sod all difference.
So now all that was left that it could be was fuel, but it has a new pump so i couldnt belive it, but i checked the fuel return and sometimes it would have a good return pressure and with no difference sometimes it would just stop and just dribble out.
So it had to be the pump or a blockage in the fuel rail as i took all the other fuel pipes off, the tank out, etc... and they are all as clean as anything, so i had a carb electric pump in my workshop, and as it was now 7pm i couldnt get a high pressure pump, so i thougth maybe the new pump it stuggling to recive the fuel so i plumbed in the carb pump before the high pressure pump i had and that did seem to make a difference as you would get a constant fuel pressure out the return whatever, so basictally down to the new hight pressure pump i brought i can now no longer bring the k-lubman with me.
But not alls lost as Ali has offered me a lift so ill still be coming.

It All Went Tits Up!

my vauxhall did this alot, strange one, it turned out to be the fuel pump relay, they get black wire corrosion and flicker between high and low pressure with no real reason.
not sure if youve used a relay :S if you have, try solid wiring it? might solve the problem?
sorry if its still too late
hope you still have a brilliant time matey

Cheers for posting that up alex, i did test the pump wired straight off 12v off a bettery out of the car and the pump was doing the same thing... But i think i did hear a relay flicking over now and then so could have possible damaged the pump somehow, when i get back from the trip ill wire up a new independent replay instead of the standard MGF item and see if i can still hear the clicking.
Just a big gutted that it was such a close call as if we were leaving of thursday i would still be able to take my mini, but o well, i guess its kind of good as its a long way from home if something breaks.
Im sure ill have a quality time, especially with some of Ali's stories haha.
