i have just come in from the garage where i have been re spraying my mini matt black. I want to laquer it to give it a bit more protection but does clear laquer still leave it with a matt finish or will it just look like gloss black? If this is the case, is there matt laquer available and where's best to get it? as i haven't found any in halfords.
Cheers
Tom

go to a proper auto paint supply centre, explain what you want to achieve, and they'll sort you out.

If you lacquer straight over the matt then it will give a gloss finish.
But i do know that you can get hold of a matt finish type of lacquer (im not sure if its still called lacquer) as my matt sprayed it over his matt black car.

im pretty sure it would come out shiny, i filled my gear nob numbers and marking and that with red paint sanded the top bit, masked it off and laquered it, it turned out mega shiny.
