Hello, I recently bought a mini sprite (1995) and it came with cobra bucket seats in it.
unfortunately, they have proven to be somewhat of an inconvenience and i can't get anything into the back (except for very skinny people and my lurcher).
I wanted to get some regular classic mini seats and just convert back to original, but i am unsure if the sub frames for the seats will be the same!?
can someone please help me? i am a girl and useless at things like this.
thank you, kim

I’m afraid not. The cobra sub frame is different to the original. You’ll need to get some sub frames with your seats and just make sure they lock in position as the early ones don't.

standard seats have subframes built into them, so you just need to get hold of some seat, but if you like the seats you already have if they dont already have subframes that allow you to tilt them forward you could just buy some new subframes which allow this, i hope this helps and makes sence

Thanks guys... the cobra seats are on a subframe that allows them to tilt forward, but they are so tall that they hit the roof of the mini before they can tilt properly
i have seen a set of original mini seats on ebay, which have custom upholstery but they don't include the frames (someone was re-furbing an old mini, but had to sell- think it has gone now, but just the custom interior left) this is why i wanted to know if they would fit onto the current frames in my car.
also, when i have looked for frames, i have been a bit overwhelmed by all the different kinds, etc, so i didn't really know where to start.
maybe it might be best to give it a miss for now then as i'm going to spend over the odds in replacing what i have.. who needs passengers anyway?! it only slows me down
