Finally got some work done today, we braced the shell and dropped the old floor out.

Had some tidying up to do before anything could go back in, so we only managed to fit the L/H door step today, hopefully more progress next weekend.

Well its been ages since the last update, and there is something to show for the last 5 months! The door steps were both replaced and the toe board was repaired before i could fit the complete new floor pan and heel board, then it was fitting the sills and the floor cross member.

I have also since decided to build this into track car, so you can see all the new panels have been stitch or seam welded into place for strength.

Oh and i went up to Wales last weekend to see Endaf Owens and picked up some goodies from him. Also got to check out all of this toys he has in his workshop, the miglia race cars were my favourite though and i now have some good ideas.

Right so my parts from endaf, fibreglass boot floor and alloy tank 6 gallon i think.

And my favourite, JKD straight cut dog box, with fd (3.6 i think) and cross pin diff. :-D

I also bought a dished steering wheel and snap off boss, and a denso alternator but no pics of that.

Ah also my lightweight doors, just need to fit the alloy skins.

Next job is tubing the arches.

Cheers, George.

Thanks, it wasn't 100% necessary but im glad i did it as the old one was well out of shape. mostly from the way the standard seats are mounted against the floor.

Cheers, it really is scary how much flex the shell has when the floor is removed, even with it braced like that.

Cheers Ed, i love the box, can't even wait to get to use it! :D

I'm going to attach the floor with rivets and also something to bond and seal it too, thats how they fit them in the migs. :)

Impressive use of a grinder! I don't think I'd have the balls to cut a car up that much & be scared to mess something up. Top stuff!

Thanks Craig, progress is very on and off, i hope to get another decent update soon hopefully in the new year, but the weather has stopped work the past few weeks. It will get to some shows eventually, but im not sure about next year, considering how much more work i have planned! :)

George, you seem to be going lightweight in a big way. Are you ditching the rear subby ?
Mines long gone replaced with a custom alloy mount and std radius arms and spax coilovers. Before my back started playing up i could lift the back end up on my own. Massive weight saving, but makes the back end less stable.

Hi Dave, yes the rear subframe is gone. I will be knocking up a rear beam at some point, and i have some nice protech alloy coil overs to go on with the standard arms for now. I also have some tube that will be welded between the rear turrets to keep it rigid and stiff, and i'm even considering making a rear anti roll bar.

I would be interested to see your set up as it doesn't sound that conventional, if i have read that right.

Cheers, George.
