Cheers Ed, i love the box, can't even wait to get to use it! :D

I'm going to attach the floor with rivets and also something to bond and seal it too, thats how they fit them in the migs. :-)

Cool! Tiger Seal is a good bonder... used it a couple of times....

Quick update, haven't done that much but i started to tub the arches. Cut one side (roughly) and cut some metal up to form the new arch.

Posted Image

Also a couple of underside shots while i have the car on its side, you can see how much of a **** state the rear of the boot floor is in.

Got some more work done on the car today, got the arch all tacked in place, it looks better in person.

Also it looks a bit wonkey on the edge, as its sticking out about 40-50mm at the moment so needs to be cut down when its all finished.

I'm going to stitch weld it inside and out and spot it on the edge all around.

My flitch and door hinge panels are very similar to yours after you'd cut yours off. Mostly surface rust from the looks... did you replace yours mate? I'm hoping I'll get away with a few patches!

Yeah i replaced mine craig, not necessary but it seemed the easier option considering how bad it was.

Just a quick update, no pics i'm afraid. I roped the old man into helping me today and we got the rear arches both welded up so they are both tubbed now, just need a bit of tidying up and paint. I also butchered the boot floor up ready for repair.

The bad news is, while using the wire brush on the grinder, i found that a large section of the rear panel has had some damage repair (read: loads of filler). I guess caused by a bump from another car, so i've ordered a new rear panel, the one from the bottom of the window down, and the 10" rear section of the boot floor for repair.

Heres a couple of pics of tubbing the arches, i re did them differently to how it was on the previous page.

Posted Image

Posted Image

I have finished welding them now, but they need a bit of tidying up and primer to finish them off.

Here is what i found on the rear panel, this is why i decided to replace it.

Posted Image

New panels, also an intercooler (thanks jamestar)

Posted Image

And today i startded with the car looking like this.

Posted Image

And ended it almost freezing to death, looking like this.

Posted Image

That last picture makes it look a lot worse than it is.

Cheers, George.

Ok, so ive done some more work, for weight saving i have removed any brackets and stuff thats no longer necessary. Stuff removed:

- C pillar seat belt braces
- lower rear seat belt bracket, (the one thats attached to the boot floor and rear seat/bulkhead)
- fuel tank brackets
- rear subframe rear mounts, (the ones on the boot floorand arches) Surprisingly heavy!
- washer bottle bracket from rear arch
- all jacking points, (boot floor, sills etc)
- probably some others i can't think of.

Also i got my rear panel on, a bit more welding and tidying up needed but its on at least.

Posted Image

Posted Image

I also chopped out the majority of the boot floor, and the bracket that has the bolts for the rear seat belts while i was at it, saved a bit more weight there.

Posted Image

And lastly this shows the rear arches tubbed, the C pillar seat belt mount removed and the seam stich welded.

Posted Image

I also decided my toeboard was too out of shape so ive ordered a new one which will be the next job.

Cheers, George
