now that is sexy!

got a Webber for the Mk2 engine, can't wait for the noise!!

Im jealous of all your mini fun... i want one again :D

Thanks mate it is amazing, deffinatly one of the best things i've done so far, whats happening to the bean? I thought he was still going.

nah the bean got written off in august... trying to finish my minus now... lol

shame about mr police man... the anti rusting looks promising! bad rust! thats why i got a minus  lol

Ed

Ahh thats a shame about bean, the minus sounds good though, deffinatly nice and rust free! I'm going to have to track down your project thread. The 5-0 haven't given me any trouble since so lets hope it stays that way. And yes this repair will be much better than the previous persons failed attempt, it will cure the horrible rocking i got from the front subby when the engine was under torque, hopefully nothing else has been damaged because of this.

George :)

Lol i have the exact same problem, if you put your foot on the toe board where the subby mounts and pump the throttle a bit you can feel it move well bad.

Cheers, its basically stage one and thats about it currently, saving lots of money and looking for a donor engine at the moment, as when i do build it i want to do it properly and only once.

the plans at the moment are 1293 high comp pistons around 10:1 ratio, either my current su or my weber 45 (needs rejetting), nicely worked crank (lightened balanced, wedged, x-drilled, stress relieved and maybe ni-tempered), stress relieved rods, maybe centre main still not sure, ultralight flywheel, nice worked over head 31/36 valves and ported and polished, standard rockers with swiftune sw10 and venier dupex timing kit, maybe sc drops, center oil pick up pipe, hopefully some breathers from the rocker cover to the drop gears and timing cover, and thats about it for now, things might change a little though.

George :(

Cheers Ed not sure how far to go with it really, getting a cf mk1 boot lid which will be body colour, none of this showing weave stuff not very retro! and still unsure what im doing with my doors, either fg doors or steel doors with alloy or fg skins and poly carb windows maybe. prioritys at the mo are to fix more rust, sort out a flat boot floor, and sort out fueling (i need a new sender unit, and goiing to change to electronic fuel pump).

:D

Hi all sorry for the slack updates, the car is still alive but i haven't done much at all to it lately, been working like mad saving for the new engine as i've decided this one is ready for its first rebuild after 83k, the distributor is knackered and its misfiring loads, but i don't want to spend anything temporarily and its still drivable for work which is only 10-15mins away. Oh and here's a pic of the repair we did on the floor/toeboard a few moths back, it needs griding back a bit and will be painted soon.

I just thought i would update on the plan, i'm on holiday next friday but when i get back at the end of august i'll be taking it off the road as the mot and insurance will have run out by then. I can then start rebuilding the engine along with other stuff which, mostly is just body work and tidying up.

The engine spec was going to be turbo but after reading vizards tuning the a series (which i now can't put down lol) i think i'm going to try n/a . So the spec will pretty much what i posted earlier but may change a little bit, anyways the first peice of the puzzle turned up today and i'm starting to get excited already. :)

This megajolt kit popped up for sale and seeing as i was going to need a new dizzy any way i thought there was no better time for it.
