hey guys, i was wondering if any cutting of my mini will be necessary to fit 6x13 inch wheels, if my mini wasnt a mk1 i wouldnt care so much but because its never had a new panel bar one sill i think i dont want to cut it up, so if there are mods required what are the next biggest wheels i can fit?? without mods
ps. i am putting them under wood and picket arches
cheers

I think the same basic rules apply here, as to when fitting 6x12"s, (...so a bit of the inner arch / wing needs to be cut?). But I'm not sure on this one.

I would expect them to rub on the inner arch (unless steering rack limiters are put in place) and them to rub on the front wing. Plus your handling won't be as good as it would be on 10s, and your acceleration will be worse.

I can help with this one i have a 92 spi cooper and i had 5.5x12 wheels and there was no rubbing from them i have now gone to sports pack arches and wheels and yes you have to take some of the wing off to accomidate for the width as they will rub And im not sure about any limiters on mine but there arent any as im aware. Personally i think you are right about not doing to the mk1. CJ

12" by 5.5 is probably the biggest your going to get before it rubs. And even then I think it will rub on full stering lock.
My car rubs like a ******* and ive got 12" by 5.5s on spacers. And the wings have been cut. :erm:

Sorry binge but what size spacers are you using on your wheels. Ive never had a problem with rubbing on mine before i changed over, even with full lock on, and with no cutting on the arch :erm: It seems very strange

stick with tens, they are making a huge come back. besides your wheel bearings will wear, not to mention ball joints (top and bottom), and all the other suspension components. they look good but is it worth the hasle? i don't think so, thats why when i get my next mini it'll be sitting on a nice set of tens or twelves.
i've had first hand experience with 13"ers and after a month i seriously regretted it. i was tweaking ball joints and replacing cv joints in all the weather winter could throw at me
ps its a lovely car, why cut the body work?

if they have it wont help you.
If you try fitting 12x6's without cutting you may or may not get rubbing.
It all depends on the ride height of your car, ware on suspension, if your donuts n knuckles or hydro suspension is worn etc.
Personally i would leave the MK1 on tens. But if you insist to fit bigger wheels, then you will more likely need to cut the wings/a panel to stop rubbing.
I dont know if it would elimate the problem, but you could fit HI-LO's and raise the car so the wheels dont rub? But it might look silly, abit like a Jeep.
