Hi all, im new to this mini business but im loving every minute of it, i have just bought myself a Mini Mayfair and would like to spruce the engine up a bit and get a little more out of it.
I would like to invest in a K&N bolt on air filter to replace thge big round plastic one, im guessing i have a standard carb in it.
Can you please advise me on the right one to get, and any help with fitting, ect.

Any help will be much appreciated......:

Welcome!
This is the 1st thing that i did to my mayfair when i got it

I've put this on one, which was very simple. All you need is a small socket set. Like the £10 one from halfords

Its really simple to do. I din't notic any difference in preformance, but you may want a new carb needle? Others will advise you on this.

:P

The only problem ive heard of, is the clearence between the back of the filter, and the bulkhead.

But nope, it tuck (sp?) me 10mins to do, if that. Really was a peice of cake.

1 more thing, the interior sound of the engine later is quite abit louder, and deaper.

Does anyone know what needle should be brought after fitting a K&N cone filter?

So what does the stage one kit contain and how much is that?
I already have a stainles system on the car apart from the manifold which was on the car already when I bought it.
Is there a way of de cluttering the engine bay in a way?

Is the manifold an aftermarket tubular one or the original cast? If its an aftermarket then your half way there, when changing the airfilter and exhuast you will need a new carb needle, then its best to get the car tuned.

Look on sites like minispares, minisport etc. You will see what their stage 1's include. But its normally airfilter, exhaust system & manifold, inlet manifold and new needle.

Paul.
