might be worthwhile changing the oil pump at the same time, unless youve recently changed it.

look at the oil pump end of the cam you will see a slot or a round hole with a pin through it.
Your new cam will be slot drive i would have said.

its most likely to be a slot drive, unless some else knows for sure

if you have the original a+ engine fitted it would have come with a slot drive as standard

are you fitting the cam with the engine in place or with engine out

if with engine out then get a new oil pump as well

ideally you should fit new cam bearing when fitting a new cam although people dont seem to bother

thanks mate :o... how hard would it be to do it with the engine still in??

The engine has only done 27k miles so i didnt think i would need to replace bearings or followers?
thanks

can be done in the car on a 998 as can remove the tappet chest covers to remove the followers but is a pain as have to feed cam through inner wing and would have to cut a hole

did not know if you had a standard front end or flipfront

is far easier to do with engine out

would replace follows as well as are going to be worn to the other cam

if was me would be replacing oil pump and followers as well as the cam
