276 would be best for road use loosing a little top end over the 286 but gaining lower down. That's my experience of the cams anyway.I have a 1275 with a stage one kit on it and have the oppurtunity to buy a weber 40 and a stage 2 head for cheap of a mate. Was just wonderinig if i could have any advice on what cam would suit this combination the best as looking for as much torque / power as possible? From what i have read up on a 276 / 286 is the right sort of thing?
Cheers, Ash
286 is a pig to get the timing right all through the range where as 276 is good with Metro type dizzy.
If you just want power and dont mind it being a pig in traffic then go 286

Stage two head may not be as much of a tune as you think, check that inlet valves are larger and porting and deshrouding have been done, some stage two heads are rubbish where others are quite good. just a thought.

Which cam was your mate ruuning with the Weber and the Stage 2 head?
Have you driven his car with that engine? How was it?
