I'm looking at replacing my grill and i wasn't sure where to start, the original owner you can see in the picture below has made his grill which i don't like, and i am looking to replace it with an original type grill.

My car is a 93 mk4 rover mini rio, can anyone recomend where and what to buy, i've been looking on mini sport and mini spares but i just don't know what i need fitment and trim wise. For starters though i have an internal bonnet release, i want it to have a chrome finish, and i was hoping to use buttons to fix it to the car, how many of these do i need?

Thanks in advance, George.

EDIT: Just to add, i was looking at the rover cooper internal grill on mini sport, anyone got any info on fitting etc? This!

Any of the Mini accessory companies can supply you with a grill.

You can go so many ways with the grill. Different colour slats, less slats (Cooper Style), more slats as per standard, internal or external bonnet release, wavy slatted grill, Mark 1 moustach grill, grill with fog light sunken into it.

All depends on the look you are after.

I recon you need a WHITE grill. (Or at least a perfect match for the offwhite of the back end...)

Yeah i've been shopping around and mini sport or mini spares seem like my best option to get everything in one go, i am looking for a chrome one, and wasn't sure on fitting of different ones, i know i not willing to go for a mk1 as i'll need a new bonnet and i was considering the rover cooper style, i don't want and lights sunken in though and i'm unsure about wavy or straight slats. Ideally though i was just looking for some opinions and information on fitting and buttons etc, thanks for the info though.

Yeah matching it wouldn't be a bad idea, but really the paint is just temporary until later on when i can afford to get it resprayed, thanks though, painted would be cool.

looks like you need a MK 3 grill with internal release + the chrome surround that goes with it

grill buttons you just need 2 normally sold as a pair

as to what style it's up to you

austin, morris, cooper etc

I'd have a good look around the classifieds and on eBay before I went to a shop
for a grille - they're never in short supply.

Best wishes
Monty
