Hello Chaps and Ladies,

I have an RC40 exhaust and manifold to fit from Minispares. This one HERE.
Im a tad confused (as always) as none of the pipes fit together, do the parts where there are splits have to be bent out so they slide together or am I missing something really obvious (as always again.)

Your help is much appreciated as always,
Oliver

Ah will do. In the meantime if anyone else has fit this kit or similar, your insight would be great!

Hmm.. Il have to have another look in the morning but it seemed the pipes with the slots just arent big enough to slide over. Very strange indeed but its more than likely im being a complete plonker.

Also what manifold you using?

Paul.

" The famous RC40 mild steel exhaust and downpipe with a new state of the arts exhaust manifold plus the fitting kit for the exhaust system. There is NOT enough clearance room when fitting to old cars with rubber couplings which foul.Using QL5000 type couplings will help but re=shapinng of manifold is still required in most cases."

The car in question (assuming it's the one in the OP's avatar, he hasn't bothered saying what car it is) is extremely unlikely to have rubber driveshaft couplings. The only reason you have to modify the manifold is to clear the Quinton Hazel replacement for these old type couplings, not to fit to the exhaust it is designed to be used with.

I haven't fitted one of these old original RC40s in years, most people use the Millenium type now. Having said that I never found a problem with slotting one of these together.

Ah sorry, I swear It used to say what car I had under my avatar picture on the left. It is a 1991 Rover Neon so I was fairly sure I didnt need to do the manifold reshaping.

I used a bit of copper slip when I refitted my stage1 exhaust. It made sliding the pipes together very easy and I could jiggle them to get the best fit.

What I also learnt from fitting the exhaust was to not bolt anything tight until I was happy with the fit.

The only bit on mine I struggled with was sliding it on to the exhaust manifold(Maniflow cooper freeflow) It took ages to open it up as I didnt have the tool for expanding it.
The other joint was easy.

Right got some pics now.
Below is the pics of the exhaust, which part is it that I need to cut as I managed to get one side of the link pipe into the backbox part.

Also there is a bracket on the manifold tubes. Does it somehow attach to the gearbox/diff on the engine or does it need to go somewhere else.

Thanks Guys

The bracket on the manifold attaches to the original bracket on the diff.

Regarding the link pipe, does the other end have slots in it?

Paul.
