Can anyone tell me best way to install this trim piece? I was thinking a heat gun to conform to the shape of the roof line? I would probably melt the bloody thing. LOL

The Rover original stuff just stays on. It's grippy.

The replacement stuff look a bit different, but I've decided not to use it as it seems to trap water.

best to leave it off

it only traps water under it and rusts the gutters out

I would of kept it off however the paint between the roof color and body color are split between on the rail... looks unfinished... why the painter didn't make the natural split between color I don't know...

I think it looks good on original cars, but if originality isn't your thing you could leave it off. Often the gutters on minis designed to have the trim are a bit rough, and sometimes have sharp edges so the trim keeps them hidden. If I fitted them I'd fit genuine Rover, it always helps if you put it in a bucket of very hot water, to soften them, or a hot air gun if you're careful, you can easily melt it if you go too far!

When I was at IMM, one of my mates bought a new gutter trim and was worried about the lil splits you get on the corners. He asked the chap and said, either us a hair drier, or put it in warm water as someone said above

You might be able to use something like "Tiger Seal" to hold in place, which is flexible and waterproof.

As mentioned before, i've found that some warm water tends to loosen it all up, and then a hairdryer can be used for a little extra persuasion

P.S. is that your mini in your display picture? Got any other pics of the car? Looks fantastic!!

Good tips for fitting guys, do you know where I can get some of the rover trim? Mine has split and I want to replace it so it looks perfect
