Hello all.

Did several different searches but it didnt bring up anything to do with how to build one, only a topic for example of where to get one made. And thats not what i'm looking for.

I'm looking to build a custom system, so i'm looking to find sites that sell silencers, boxes and pipes and all that jazz.

It wont be a straight system either so i need to know if there is any way of bending pipe?

Another thing to add is that i need the schematic for an rc40. I'm probably talking rubbish by this point but what im getting at is that i dont want this exhaust to sap power and sound like i'm a chav going down the road.

It's not something i can buy what i'm planning, i'm just keeping it under my hat for now .

Thanks for reading!

Not very helpful but you can bend the pipes in a special machine which could cost a lot i woulda thought .if you watch american chopper you'll see there ne. its in most episodes

Yehh, u need a few tonne pressure bending machine. Im sure most engineering firms have the machine, maybe you could pop in and ask them? Not sure on the back box's as its up to your choice.

I build my own system for my Mini rally cars.
It is important that it is within the noise limits foir rallying and at the same time does not sap the power more than necessary.
To give the best exhaust gas velocity I use a 1.75" inside diameter from the end of the manifold to the final centre exit point. Any bigger and the exhaust gas velocity is too low and you lose power.
I use a maniflow main pipe and a 13" long maniflow 'cherry-bomb' front silencer. This sits nicely into the tunnel. Onto the end after a bit more straight pipe I put an RC40 rear box with skid plates welded on for rough roads. The entire system is welded together after a trial fit to aviod the need for too many clamps. I use a big-bore LCB ending in a 1.875" ID final outlet from the 'Y-piece' to sleeve over the 1.75" ID exhaust pipe.
If you choose the right pipes you don't need to bend any pipes, as there are only a few ways to route the exhaust. If it doesn't run down the tunnel from the end of the manifold to the rear sub-frame forward exhaust mounting it's easy to knock it off or damage it.
With my system the car sounds OK, has good power and meets the RAC Comp requirements for rallying.

I hope this helps

Most pipe benders will kink or crush an exhaust pipe as its not very thick. You would need to fill it with sand, capping the ends and try behind it to keep its shape.

Just buy preformed bends and weld/clamp it all together. Loads of places sell the bits. Jetex is one of the most common manufacturers.
