Hi
Have just had a stage one kit fitted to my mini which is a 1993 cooper with 1275cc single point injection engine . I was told it doesnt need tuning because its a spi. Is tuning neccesary? Waste of money? Is it needed if its a spi engine?
thanks

No need up to about 90BHP as the ECU can adapt to suit
However always fit the bosch type lambda sensor its cheaper in the long run

Lambda sensor controls your fuel misture and decides weather the engines running rich or lean, by reading the exhuast gases exiting through the exhaust manifold.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know anyway or anything that monitors the fuel consumption as the standard fuel gauges on the Rover mini's i find are innacurate and useless.

Fuel gauge readings are taken from the sender unit in the tank (mini fuel gauges never read right, can be fun when your on the red
).
