Buy a donor car, depends on what engine you want what model you would buy, or check out the honda forums for engine packages.

If your 16 then good luck with insurance, I can see them rubbing their hands with glee now, "vtec, 17, £6,000 is the cheapest we can do"

Dont run before you can walk, build up some no claims on your insurance first and get some driving years under your belt, I wouldn't think about any conversion until your at least 21, you can do it by all means but your insurance will cripple you (if you get any).

Paul.

Not wanting to discourage you but I am with Pauly. My 998cc mini city e with no modifications cost me £1153 third party fire and theft when I was 17. I have had quotes for about a £1000 on my Vauxhall conversion and that is with a years no claims bonus and at the age of 19. At least when I get mine finished I will have about 4 years no claims and will be quite a bit older.

My dad says that me learning to drive an older car has improved my car control and driving skill. I don't know whether this is true or not but that is from a guy with almost 30 years driving experience. Learn to drive your a series powered mini first properly and then progress.

As for the answer to your question. Try scrap-yards, ebay or buy a complete donor car. I would suggest the later. I Have tried to buy all the parts separately and it seams to be a more expensive way to do it.

Try using the search function and read through the build diaries.

Considering your paying £1800 at 18 and it's not a vtec, how about at 17 with a vtec and a car classed as highly modified

Yeh I was just saying, your paying 1800, its got to be over 4k for a vtec conversion.

Sorry if it came across wrong...

Paul.
