Evening boys and girls!

I'm after some general tips and advice on how to put together this Megajolt Sequential Shift Light arrangement.

A couple of quick questions:

1- When I poke the LED's through the holes do I cut the legs before or after soldering?

2- Is there solder already on the board that just needs heating or do I need to add solder?

Thank you! >_<

A couple of quick questions:

1- When I poke the LED's through the holes do I cut the legs before or after soldering? I would do it after. Cut them when you are happy they are working correctly.

2- Is there solder already on the board that just needs heating or do I need to add solder? You will need to add solder. Only a small amount mindand be VERY VERY careful that you dont burn through the PCB

Thank you! >_<

Soldering is fairly easy but it does need practice, Its much easier if you can watch somebody who can solder and learn from them rather than from a book.

check out http://solder.net/technical/tips.asp for how to solder through hole components. I would practice on some scrap first. Make sure that you fit the LED the right way round or it will not work. Depending on what equipment you already have you might find it will be cheaper to find a local TV repair shop and ask them to fit the parts for you. To fit an LED should only take a few seconds.... so it should be cheap.

It should be quite easy to solder that up actually.
Pop to maplin and grab some supplies to practise with.
Just get some circuit board and a bunch of cheap LEDs.
Ask for help... >_<

Test your skills there first.

Edit: as said above, cut the legs off afterwards.
You can always cut more off, but you can't stick it back on....

solder the led to the board then cut the legs, as for soldering, nice small tip and nice and hot one dap with solder and soldering iron, make sure you get a nice shiney silver solder joint.
