Brakes failed completely... Looks like the Challenge cars are quite solid & safe.

However, the angle at which it hits the armco has a lot to do with it, it hits almost exactly square-on, and this will show a lot less damage than, say a front corner impact as force is subject to a larger surface area.
Having said that, considering the rate of deceleration, that guy looks very composed as he gets out and walks off!

Id beg to differ if it had quite a substantial cage. One of the Z-Cars had a smash head on with a TVR at maybe 100? Chris was hurt no doubt he he said he hobbled away alright.
yeh that did happen...theres a video somewhere
however it did not have brake failure and barrel role in the air after hitting a wall

as for classic minis not withstanding that type of crash, i've seen them roll, flip over the armco and still be back on the track for race 2
